Web Hosting

Web hosting is allotted disk space online provided by a company. You use this disk space for your web site. All files, html, css, and images will be hosted there. The amount of space you receive varies by company, and often you can choose from different "packages." Most basic hosting packages give you around 100mb of disk space, and between 3 - 5 gb of bandwidth. It is mandatory to have a web host in order to have an online web site. If you have any concerns or requests regarding your hosting (i.e.: want more bandwidth, or more disk space) feel free to ask during your free consultation. We will do our best to find the right hosting for you.

Domain Name

A domain name is much like a personalized phone number, only instead of numbers it uses key words... windsorswebsites.com is an example. It is connected to your hosting address, so when you type in your domain name your web site will appear. While it is not mandatory to have a domain name, it is important to being easy to find online. Without a domain name you would have to use your host address which is usually a series of numbers. When thinking up a domain name for your company, try to keep them short, memorable, and related to your business. If you want to check and see if your domain name is available you can check by going to Metanethosting. This site will tell you if this name has already been registered or not.

Personalized Graphics

Graphics can either make or break a web site. We pride ourselves in the ability to create custom graphics that give a web site a sleek, professional style. With the basic web site plan, you will receive a site very similar to this one. An attractive graphic header, personalized to your specifications. We can work with images that you provide or find our own images. Images will often be edited from their original state (unless otherwise requested) to help create a basic "design". Navigation can also be image based, or textual, it will all be up to your preferences.

Personalized Content

Content is a key part of your web site. It provides visitors with answers to questions, contact information, and gives them an overall feel for your company and its purpose. We encourage you to provide us with all the content you can, either point by point for us to rewrite, or full paragraph descriptions for us to type up. With either choice the content will be specified to your company, and spell checked before uploading.

Cascading Style Sheets

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) define how a web site should be displayed in a browser: anything from basic text, links, and graphics. CSS is used to style the size and colour of text, and has many link attributes. It can be used to choose link colour, highlight colour, and numerous link roll over effects. It can also be used to add colour to your scroll bar so it matches your web site design. CSS effects are not viewable in all browsers. Internet Explorer and Firefox display all or most effects, while Netscape Navigator has a few specialized effects, it does not display many of the CSS effects.

Email Form

Many people don`t like to have to open up their email client just to ask a question. So a special email form will be added to your site (if you request it) so that they can ask you a question right from your web site. The form will be sent to your email address, with their name, email and comment/question, and you can respond back.

Flash Web site

A Flash Web site is a popular way to go. It gives the web site more of a "movie" feeling rather than just stationary. You can include music and animations as well as very detailed graphics and motion. Flash Web sites require a great deal of time and effort to be ensure they run properly. Flash often requires high speed internet for viewers to enjoy the site as intended. On slower connections the site may lag, or function improperly. This could result in loss of customers. So a basic HTML page should also be made so the viewer can choose based on their connection and preference.

Flash Graphics/Intro

Using Flash Graphics or a Flash intro is an easier way to spice up your web site. Instead of creating a full flash web site, you can add flash based graphics or animations to your logo or header and navigation on your HTML based web site. For example, say you own a bar or restaurant, and use an image of champagne for your header... Making the header flash based, could allow champagne bubbles to rise up through the bottle or glass, continuously. This could give the site a more visually pleasing appearance. It`s best to keep animations toned down, however, so they don`t distract the viewer from the content and purpose of your site.

Java Script Effects

Java Script is an extremely powerful and complex script that can be used to add numerous effects to your site (text, links or your mouse). Java Script can be viewed in almost any browser, however newer scripts often require the latest browser versions to be used. Some effects include: Scrolling Text - vertical and horizontal, link descriptions, image slide shows... among many, many others.

Heavy Graphics

If you are interested in using more graphics than a basic header, or want some specific detailed editing done, this could be more complex and require more time to achieve your desired effect. The designer may realize the extra attention required to the project than was first discussed during your consultation, if this is the case we will contact you and make sure any extra costs are outlined and agreed upon before proceeding
